Indian Rock Golf Club - Hole #17

Getting To Know: Indian Rock Golf Club

An Insightful Interview With Chris Jackson, General Manager

By Brian Weis

Whether you have played a course 20+ times a year or looking to play the course for the first time, insights from an insider can help enhance your golf experience. Below is an interview with Chris Jackson who shares some valuable tidbits about the course, memorable holes and must eats and treats at the 19th.

Give Our Readers An Overview of the Golf Course/Property
Indian Rock's warm season fairways and tee boxes, and bent-grass greens cover 300-plus acres, interspersed with 200 one-third-acre home sites. Four tee boxes provide a choice of yardages. The course's signature #17 hole is a golfers' favorite - guarded at the back by a majestic outcrop of rocks and at the front by a deep clear-water lake. The pro shop features clothing, golf equipment and more. Golf lessons from the pros are available. After your round of golf, relax at The Clubhouse Pub. Tee times are accepted up to 30 days in advance. Location To reach Indian Rock from Lake Ozark, take the new Community Bridge to Hwy. 5 or take Hwy. 5 north from Camdenton. At Laurie, go east on Rt. O approximately 2.5 miles; the course is 18 Holes Semi-Private.

If Someone Was Looking To Golf In The Area, Why Should They Play Your Course?
We are close to most everything on the "quite side" of the lake. Our course sits across the street from a movie theater and we have our own fabulous restaurant and bar. We offer probably the best bang for your buck for any golf course at the lake. The west side of the lake has many hidden gems that are there for travelers to find!

What Tips or Local Knowledge Would You Provide To Help Them Score Better At Your Course?
The golf course is a very "risk/reward" course. If you are a not so straight hitter off the tee, then maybe leaving the driver in the bag will be a good option, but don't worry hitting a straight iron or 3 wood off the tee still leaves you within striking distance for a birdie. But if you prefer to BOMB the ball out there you can cut corners and go over ponds and trees to leave you a very easy and great opportunity to score!

What Is The Signature, Most Talked About, or Most Photographed Hole?
Hole 17 is our signature hole, it has an outcropping of Elephant rocks the reach some 30 feet in the air that is guarding the back of the green with a beautiful limestone lined pond in front of the 145 to 100 yard par 3.

Who Holds Course Record and What Was Their Score?
The course record is a -8 under 64 currently held by the General Manager/Superintendent Chris Jackson on May 16 2001. He shot a 34 on the front 9 and a blistering 30 (-6) on the back 9.
